Located in Floyd County, the lake was impounded from John’s Creek by the Corps of Engineers in 1949. Located in eastern Kentucky on Blaine Creek, 6 miles west of Louisa, construction of the dam was completed in 1991. The lake is 2,242 acres.

Dewey Lake has many facilities for visitor recreation and pleasure: biking, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, picnicking, recreational vehicles, water sports, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Launch ramps for boating enthusiasts and fishermen are located at the marina, Goble Branch Boat Launch, Stratton Branch Boat Launch, Terry Boat Launch and German Campground. Nestled among the mountains, this lake is a favorite for catching largemouth bass, crappie and catfish.
